Ely M. Spears is a senior engineering manager for data platform & machine learning infra at Amazon Prime Video & MGM Studios.

He has also served as engineering manager for data platforms & machine learning at Netflix, Twitter & Squarespace, staff ML engineer at Foursquare, senior ML engineer at Shutterstock and research engineer at McGraw-Hill Education, Acadian Asset Management and MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Ely earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (ski Terre Haute!) and graduate degrees in engineering science and applied mathematics from Harvard University and Brown University while serving as an NDSEG fellow - and still proudly opens packets of candy with his teeth.
